Steep and challenging slopes require careful consideration of surface water, erosion, soil movement, and interface stability. In geomembrane-lined applications, textured HDPE geomembranes can provide increased interface friction compared with smooth surfaces and may be selected where additional slope stability is required. Proper subgrade preparation, suitable geotextile protection, effective drainage, correct anchoring, and appropriate membrane selection should work together as part of an engineered system. The actual liner configuration and stability requirements should always be determined through project-specific geotechnical and interface-stability analysis, because slope performance depends on factors such as slope angle, soil properties, groundwater conditions, loading, and friction between system layers.
